I have a linux ubuntu installed in a VPS, and I installed xfce4 and xrdp to connect from my local desktop. this way, I can start applications like a web browser or a text editor in xfce4, leave then open, and return to them from any machine I have a rdp client.
at first things look fine, I connect, start the apps, leave them open, close my local rdp client, return 5 minutes later, connect again via rdp and the apps are still there.
but if I return after 1 hour or so (I don't know the extact time), I get a new session and the apps left open were killed.
I couldn't figure if it is the xfce4 idle session that is auto-closed, or if the xrdp idle connection that is killing everything.
I already disabled power settings and screen savers in xfce4.
how can I find what setting is killing my session?
is there any better option to have a "remote desktop machine in the cloud" like this?
