I have the same issue as the ones described in this post, but the solution did not work for me. I can see the graphical login page, and when I enter an incorrect password I get an error message. When I enter the correct password, It loads for a moment, the screen blinks a few times and it drops me back to the login screen.
I'm using VMware Workstation 17.5.2 from nixpkgs revision a58bc8ad779655e790115244571758e8de055e3d.
The solution in the other post was to remove any toolkits, but I don't think I installed any toolkits, I only enabled vmware virtualization in my Nixos config and installed the vmware-workstation package.
I've tried combing through the vmware logs with no luck, I don't think they include anything useful, but I can upload them if they help diagnose. No new logs are generated when trying to log in.
I've tested the same images on a Windows machine, and the login works just fine there.
