GitHub web binary files corrupt

Cannot view binary files in GitHub web on Windows. These files are committed from an Ubuntu machine.

Downloading the raw files gives a corrupt file that is unopen-able and contains "404: not found"Cloning the repo onto the Ubuntu machine results in viewable and working files.

I would expect them to be viewable in GitHub web and downloadable to view. Not only viewable/downloadable by cloning the repo. (or using open with github.dev)

core.auto.crlf is unconfigured, and the relevant "*.extension binary" entries are present in .gitattributes.

When trying to edit some of these files on GitHub web the error "We’ve detected the file has mixed line endings. When you commit changes we will normalize them to Windows-style (CRLF)." is displayed (but not for all files).

The error is also still displayed after performing an edit so it seems like line endings are not actually being normalized?

Any ideas what could be causing the issue, and what other troubleshooting steps I should take?

Thanks.
